TH8058 Electrical Tracking Test Apparatus
Category:
Product Description
The tracking resistance test (also known as the comparative tracking index test) is a simulated laboratory procedure specified in standards such as IEC 60112, UL 746A, GB/T 4207, GB 4706.1, and ASTM D 3638‑92. In this test, a conductive liquid—typically a 0.1% ammonium chloride solution—is applied at a prescribed rate onto the surface of a solid insulating material between platinum electrodes of defined dimensions (2 mm × 5 mm). A voltage is then applied, and droplets of the conductive liquid are dispensed at a fixed height (35 mm) for a set duration (30 seconds). The test evaluates the surface resistance of solid insulating materials under the combined effects of an electric field and a moist or contaminated environment, determining their comparative tracking index (CTI) and proof tracking index (PTI). This method is applicable to research, production, and quality‑control departments involved with lighting equipment, low‑voltage electrical appliances, household appliances, machine‑tool electrical components, motors, power tools, electronic instruments, electrical measuring devices, and information‑technology equipment. It is also suitable for industries dealing with insulating materials, engineering plastics, electrical connectors, and related accessories.
